What’s for Lunch?
April 18th, 2011I hope everyone is having a good Monday and thoroughly enjoyed their weekend! Mondays always seem like a fresh start. One of the things I like most about the start of my week is thinking about what I’m going to have for lunch!
Just for fun we asked all of our employees here at AVCOM what their favorite thing is to bring to lunch and these were the results..

What is YOUR favorite thing to bring to lunch?
Or, do you mostly go out to lunch?
Have a good week!

Avcom’s Role in the Super Bowl

A Pacsat truck at Super Bowl XLIV in Miami, FL
A lot of technology goes into seeing that those of us who aren’t able to purchase tickets to the super bowl are able to enjoy it in the comfort of our own living rooms. Without spectrum analyzers, that might not be possible.
The spectrum analyzer is a critical piece of equipment for broadcasting. It identifies the proper satellite communication as well as monitors the link to ensure there is no inference with the signal. The spectrum analyzer makes sure the transmission gets from the field to the studio without any interruption.

With so much coverage at the super bowl, and so much of it from out of town, or even out of the country, the calculations you may use to find your satellite in your normal location are different. Using a spectrum analyzer you can be certain you’re not broadcasting on someone else’s satellite and causing them interference.
Last year our SNG unit made the Super Bowl roster in Pacsat’s satellite news gathering trucks. Pacsat is a company that was leased by CBS Sports to provide coverage of last year’s Super Bowl. It was the same year we debuted our SNG unit as a direct replacement for the discontinued Tektronix 1705A with rave reviews and much success.
